Mastodon limit questions
Still deciding? The free trial is the quickest way to find out. It takes about a minute to set up.
What is the Mastodon character limit?
500 characters per post by default. Each Mastodon server can set its own limit, so enter yours above to count against it.
Do emojis and links count?
Yes. Every character you see counts once, including an emoji, a flag or an accented letter. Links count in full here; a few networks, such as Mastodon, count every link as 23 characters, so a long link uses less of the limit there.
How many images can a Mastodon post have?
Up to 4 per post.
Can I post videos to Mastodon?
One video up to 99 MB
What if my post is too long for Mastodon?
Shorten it, or in Postzora give Mastodon its own shorter version while your other networks keep the full text.
Character counters for other networks
Write once. Fit Mastodon and every other network.
Postzora shows each network’s limit as you write and lets you shorten one version without touching the others.
