About 0% of your words are styled. Screen readers can spell styled letters out one by one, and LinkedIn search can’t find them. Style a few key words, not whole sentences.
Before “…more”, readers see 0 characters on desktop
That’s your hook. If it doesn’t make people click “…more”, nothing after it gets read. Positions are approximate and vary with screen and font.
Make it yours: name, headline, picture and photo
Pictures stay on your device; nothing is uploaded.

LinkedIn formatting questions
Still deciding? The free trial is the quickest way to find out. It takes about a minute to set up.
How do I make text bold on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn has no bold button, so formatters swap your letters for bold-looking Unicode letters. Select the words above, press B (or ⌘B), copy the post and paste it into LinkedIn. It works in posts, comments, your headline and your About section.
Where does LinkedIn cut a post off with “…more”?
After about three lines in the feed, on desktop and on phones. How many characters that is depends on your line breaks and the screen, which is why the preview shows the exact text readers see first.
Does formatted text count against the 3,000-character limit?
Yes, and more than plain text: each styled letter counts as two characters, because of how LinkedIn measures text. The counter above counts the way LinkedIn does.
Is bold and italic text bad for accessibility or reach?
Use it sparingly. Screen readers can read styled letters out one by one, and LinkedIn search doesn’t match them, so keep names, keywords and hashtags plain. The tool warns you when more than about a third of your words are styled.
Can I edit the post after pasting it into LinkedIn?
You can, but text you type there will be plain. Make changes here and copy again; your draft stays in this browser until you clear it.
Is my post saved or sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Your draft is kept on this device only, and pictures you add for the preview are never uploaded.
