Discord timestamp questions
Still deciding? The free trial is the quickest way to find out. It takes about a minute to set up.
How do Discord timestamps work?
Write <t:UNIX:STYLE> in a message, where UNIX is the time in seconds since 1 January 1970 (UTC) and STYLE is one of t, T, d, D, f, F or R. Discord replaces it with a date or time in each reader’s own time zone and language.
Do members see the time in their own time zone?
Yes. That’s the point of them: one code, and everyone sees the right local time, so nobody has to convert “8 PM EST” themselves.
What does the R style do?
It shows a relative time such as “in 3 hours” or “2 days ago”, and Discord keeps it up to date as time passes. It’s ideal for countdowns to events and launches.
What happens if I leave out the style?
Discord uses f, the short date and time, for example “20 April 2026 16:20”.
Do timestamps work in scheduled posts and webhooks?
Yes. They work in any message text, including messages sent by webhooks, so you can paste them into a post you schedule to Discord with Postzora.
